Frequently Asked Questions

Questions
1. I have a 3025 and every time it rains the antenna input stops working.
There has been lightning in the area, but none directly. What can I do?

2.
I have a 3025 and am using the IR target model 2133.
Occasionally the IR system does not work. What’s wrong?

3.
I have a 3025 that I’ve had installed for quite some time.
I want to add more inputs, but there isn’t space for it. Can I add another 3025 to my system?

4.
I have a 5545 modulator which I am only using two of the inputs. Some of the cable channels above
65 are degraded, but when I remove the 5545, they clear up. What’s happening?

5.
I have two cameras that I’ve been trying to combine with the cable service, but I can only see
one camera on channel 78, while the other camera on channel 82 is snowy. What’s wrong?

6.
I have a DA-550HHR that I purchased when I had an antenna. I recently switched
to cable service, but I can’t get pay-per-view channels. What can I do?

7.
I have a DA-550BID and I’m using the IR target model 2133 at every TV,
but I can’t get the IR system to work. What’s wrong?

8.
I have an MDS-6A with six MCS-1A controllers. The red LED lights are on,
but none of the green LED’s are lit. What’s wrong?

9.
I have an MDS-6A and on the MSC-2A dual controller both the red and green
LED’s are flashing simultaneously. What should I do?

1. I have a 3025 and every time it rains the antenna input stops working. There has been lightning in the area, but none directly. What can I do?

We recommend a surge suppressor to be installed within one foot of the 3025 on the antenna coax input.

2. I have a 3025 and am using the IR target model 2133. Occasionally the IR system does not work. What’s wrong?

The 2133 target is picking up some type of interference. Disconnect the target from the TV and use an RF interference filter between the target and the TV. You might also need to mount the target further away from the TV.

3. I have a 3025 that I’ve had installed for quite some time. I want to add more inputs, but there isn’t space for it. Can I add another 3025 to my system?

No, the 3025 is a stand alone unit only. We recommend using a 5545 modulator and 8200 coax panel which adds more inputs and outputs. Your existing IR system will also work with those products.
4. I have a 5545 modulator which I am only using two of the inputs. Some of the cable channels above 65 are degraded, but when I remove the 5545, they clear up. What’s happening?

The 5545 is a four channel modulator and although you are only using two inputs, the remaining two inputs are active. Program the unused modulator inputs to higher, unused channels.
5. I have two cameras that I’ve been trying to combine with the cable service, but I can only see one camera on channel 78, while the other camera on channel 82 is snowy. What’s wrong?

The cable service sends digital data throughout the cable system, which occasionally interferes with modulated channels. Insert a low pass filter and tune the camera channels to 91 and 93 instead.
6. I have a DA-550HHR that I purchased when I had an antenna. I recently switched to cable service, but I can’t get pay-per-view channels. What can I do?

Replace the DA-550HHR with the DA-550BID, which is bi-directional and allows you to receive pay-per-view.
7. I have a DA-550BID and I’m using the IR target model 2133 at every TV, but I can’t get the IR system to work. What’s wrong?

The DA-550BID is a 12 volt IR system and the 2133 is a 5 volt IR target. Replace the 2133s with 2100A IR wall plates and 2132 targets.
8. I have an MDS-6A with six MCS-1A controllers. The red LED lights are on, but none of the green LED’s are lit. What’s wrong?

Make sure none of the Mute buttons are depressed. Also, you may need to adjust the sensitivity trim on the page board.
9. I have an MDS-6A and on the MSC-2A dual controller both the red and green LED’s are flashing simultaneously. What should I do?

The MCS-2A has failed to learn the command. Repeat the simplified programming procedure.
